Original designs of national emblem displayed in Hanoi

Nearly 200 documentary archives and original sketches of the Vietnamese national emblem produced by late painter Bui Trang Chuoc are being displayed at the State Archives and Records Administration in Hanoi to mark the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution on August 19 and the National Day on September 2.

Vietnam National Emblem - a sacred and proud symbol, expressing a strong desire for peace, independence, freedom, and a prosperous country that stands shoulder to shoulder with international friends across the continents. The process of formation and birth of the National Emblem of Vietnam is a special story associated with the country's history and the journey of fighting and protecting the nation. It is also an interesting story associated with the life and career of talented painter Bui Trang Chuoc.

With an area of about 150 square metres, the display introduces nearly 200 original artifacts, documents, and images about the life and career of famous painter Bui Trang Chuoc.

The exhibition space "National Treasure - Sketches of Vietnam's National Emblem" is solemnly designed.

The exhibition is divided into three parts. The first part, titled "Vietnam National Emblem - Symbol of National Pride", introduces a number of documents and images of the Vietnamese National Emblem shown on events and locations on land as well as borders and seas and islands, in important papers, thereby showing the importance and sacredness of the Vietnam National Emblem.

Of the painter's 112 sketches of the national emblem, from general to detailed, 15 were submitted to the Prime Minister in October 1954 for a final decision.

Some details of the first sketch of the National Emblem of Vietnam. Of these, there are 57 pencil sketches and 55 colour copies, all hand-painted by the late artist.

Previously, on August 29, as part of activities to celebrate the 78th anniversary of the historic August Revolution and National Day (1945-2023), the 78th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Home Affairs and sector (August 28, 1945 - 2023), the 2nd anniversary of Artist Bui Trang Chuoc's collection of sketches of the Vietnam National Emblem model recognised as a National Treasure according to the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 2198/QD-TTg, dated December 25, 2021, Vietnam National Archives Centre III and the State Archives and Records Administration in Hanoi opened the exhibition "National Treasure - Sketches of the Vietnam National Emblem".

Bui Trang Chuoc (1915-1992), who studied at the Indochina College of Fine Arts from 1936 to 1941, was the first Vietnamese person to design postage stamps in Indochina.
