OVD service Netflix available in Vietnam

US provider of subscription-based online video distribution (OVD) service Netflix has announced it will expand its services to 130 nations, including Vietnam, in its target to become the first global-scale OVD supplier.

The Netflix service is free for the first month.
The Netflix service is free for the first month.

However, Netflix only has captions in 20 languages around the world so far, so Vietnamese subscribers will not have Vietnamese captions. Customers can register for service packages of VND180,000, VND220,000 (Standard package for HD) and VND260,000 (Premium package for Ultra HD) per month.

The service is free for the first month and payment is accepted via Visa, MasterCard and Amex.

After registering for a Netflix account, subscribers in Vietnam can watch programmes on computers, laptops, smart phones, Apple TV, Google TV, Google Chromecast, Play Station 3/4, Xbos 360 and Xbox One.

Netflix has the largest number of subscribers around the world with around 70 million regular pay users, in which a half is from the US, even outnumbering people using traditional cable TV services.

Together with Vietnam, India, Russia, Poland and Singapore were recently added to the service.
