This event marks an important step in bringing advanced technologies from Japan to Viet Nam, in line with national orientations on strategic technologies.
Under the signed agreement, Mescells and Mt. Fuji GX Holdings are working towards three key objectives.
First, to receive and master technologies for the production of stem cells and immune cells in accordance with Japanese standards, including processes ranging from isolation, culture and quality control to preservation and storage, serving research and application activities in compliance with regulations.
Second, to contribute to enhancing the scientific and technological self-reliance capacity of Mescells and medical institutions in the field of regenerative medicine in Viet Nam, gradually building a domestic network of research, production and application units meeting required standards, thereby reducing dependence on external technology sources.
Third, to work towards the goal of improving public health on the basis of scientific evidence and research data, progressively completing legal dossiers and professional procedures, thereby expanding opportunities for Vietnamese people to access advances in regenerative medicine at the most reasonable cost.
In recent years, the Party and the State have issued many important guidelines and policies to promote the development of science and technology and improve the quality of health care for the people.
Notably, Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW (issued on December 22, 2024) identifies science, technology and innovation as breakthrough drivers for rapid and sustainable development; Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW (issued on May 4, 2025) affirms the role of the private economy, including private healthcare, as an important driver of the national economy; and Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW (issued on September 9, 2025) emphasises the requirement to strengthen the protection, care and improvement of public health.
In particular, on June 12, 2025, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1131/QD-TTg approving the list of national strategic technologies, in which cell therapy, including stem cells and immune cells, is identified as one of the 11 spearhead technology groups. This serves as an important basis for encouraging medical institutions to make systematic investments, receive and gradually master advanced cell technologies.
Speaking at the event, Nguyen Ngo Quang, Director General of the Department of Science, Technology and Training under the Ministry of Health, highly appreciated Mescells’ efforts in accessing and transferring advanced technologies from Japan. This cooperation model will contribute to building technological self-reliance capacity, training high-quality human resources, and promoting the development of regenerative medicine in a sustainable, compliant manner for the common benefit of the community.
Dr Nguyen Ngo Quang also requested that relevant units implement the cooperation in a methodical manner, strictly comply with legal regulations, and ensure safety and effectiveness for the public.
On the receiving side, Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Mescells Healthcare System, affirmed that the goal of the cooperation is to build internationally standardised stem cell and immune cell production capacity in Viet Nam, and to cooperate in supplying cells for hospital research projects, thereby expanding new treatment methods serving the community. Mescells is committed to rapidly absorbing Japan’s advanced technologies so that from the second quarter of 2026, it will be able to produce standard-compliant cells for research and clinical application at medical facilities.
Also speaking at the event, Professor, Dr Ta Thanh Van noted that the cooperation represents an effective linkage between basic research and clinical application, contributing to improving the quality of community health care through cell-based therapies.
The event attracted strong attention from the press and professional circles, affirming Viet Nam’s growing position in the field of regenerative medicine and cell therapy. Mescells stated that it will continue to work closely with its Japanese partner to swiftly implement the next steps.
