Paying tribute to former leaders of Party, State, and armed forces

A delegation of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence, led by General Phan Van Giang, paid visits, presented gifts, and expressed gratitude to former leaders of the Party, state, and armed forces on December 20, on the occasion of the 81st founding anniversary of the Viet Nam People's Army (VPA) and the 36th anniversary of the All-People Defence Festival.

General Phan Van Giang, Politburo Member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Minister of National Defence, together with the delegation, visited families and offered tribute to the late Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, late head of the General Political Department of the Viet Nam People’s Army; late State President Le Duc Anh, late Minister of National Defence; late ministers of national defence, including General Vo Nguyen Giap, General Van Tien Dung, General Doan Khue, and General Phung Quang Thanh; late heads of the General Political Department of the Viet Nam People’s Army, namely General Nguyen Chi Thanh and General Chu Huy Man; late Chiefs of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People’s Army and former deputy ministers of national defence, including General Le Trong Tan and General Hoang Van Thai; and Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, former Deputy Minister of National Defence.

Before the spirits of these predecessors, General Phan Van Giang and the delegation expressed their profound gratitude for the great contributions and dedication of former leaders of the Party, state, and armed forces to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, as well as to the building of the Army, the strengthening of national defence, and the protection of the Fatherland.

On the same day, during visits and the presentation of gifts to former Ministers of National Defence General Pham Van Tra and General Ngo Xuan Lich, and to Lieutenant General Dang Quan Thuy, former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, General Phan Van Giang warmly inquired after their health. He also briefed them on several notable results in the performance of military and national defence tasks by the entire armed forces in 2025.

On the occasion, General Phan Van Giang extended his best wishes to the families of former leaders of the Party, state, and armed forces, and wished General Pham Van Tra, General Ngo Xuan Lich, Lieutenant General Dang Quan Thuy, and their families continued good health and happiness.

He expressed his hope that they would continue to follow developments closely and offer valuable and heartfelt contributions to the building of an ever-stronger Army, capable of successfully fulfilling the tasks entrusted by the Party, the state, and the people.
