People flock to Southern Folk Cake Festival

The 9th Southern Folk Cake Festival featuring nearly 100 local traditional cakes was held in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho from April 7-11.

The event which attracted tens of thousands of visitors had the participation of nearly 173 bakers from 31 units and organisations from provinces and cities, including Ho Chi Minh City, An Giang, Kien Giang, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, Lang Son, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, Thanh Hoa, among others.

The cake show offers an opportunity for associations of pastry chefs to introduce their products to local and foreign businesses and expand the new markets as well as build a national brand for Southern folk cakes.

The annual event aims to preserve and highlight traditional cuisines and cultural activities, promote tourism and the cultural potential of the Southern region of Vietnam.
