This is a meaningful activity to celebrate the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975–April 30, 2026), the 140th International Workers’ Day (May 1, 1866–May 1, 2026), the 136th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890–May 19, 2026), and the 115th anniversary of his departure to seek a path for national salvation (June 5, 1911–June 5, 2026). It also contributes to spreading a vibrant spirit of emulation, bringing the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress into life.
In particular, this is a meaningful cultural activity marking the 50th anniversary of Saigon–Gia Dinh officially being honoured with the name of President Ho Chi Minh (July 2, 1976–July 2, 2026).
The photo exhibition “Viet Nam – A continuous stretch of mountains and rivers” introduces 153 outstanding photographic works selected from the national photo contests and exhibitions “Pride of the borderlands” and “The Fatherland by the waves” for the 2020–2025 period organised by the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communication, Education and Mass Mobilisation.
The exhibition gathers many excellent works by both professional and amateur photographers nationwide. Through expressive and emotive photographic language, the works vividly and authentically portray the beauty of Viet Nam’s landscapes, country and people, from remote border highlands to plains and seas and islands.
Meanwhile, the exhibition “Ho Chi Minh City resounds with the song of triumph” features 100 colour and black-and-white photos, depicting the heroic struggle of the southern army and people during the resistance war against the US, for national salvation; the results of a long journey of arduous sacrifice and glorious victory of the patriotic Vietnamese people; the strength of great national unity under the glorious flag of the Communist Party of Viet Nam; steadfast faith in beloved President Ho Chi Minh, together with strong international support.
The works also reflect a Ho Chi Minh City that continues to uphold its tradition of dynamism and creativity, gradually overcoming difficulties; taking the lead in realising aspirations for development, striving to become a civilised and modern metropolis, a centre of innovation, dynamic and well-integrated, at the forefront of the country’s industrialisation and modernisation, with a prominent position in Southeast Asia; worthy of the great honour of bearing the name of President Ho Chi Minh.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Van Thi Bach Tuyet, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, emphasised that the exhibition is not only a gathering of photographic artworks, but also a bridge connecting the past, present and future, helping today’s younger generation better understand the value of peace, and enabling every citizen to love and take pride in a Viet Nam that is rising strongly in a new era – the era of national rising.
At the same time, Ho Chi Minh City is also organising an exhibition themed “Grand celebration of the 50th anniversary of national reunification: Memorable moments”, featuring 40 artistic photos capturing activities marking the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975–April 30, 2025) on Dong Khoi Street, and the exhibition “The working class of Ho Chi Minh City accompanies the nation’s aspiration for rising” on Nguyen Du–Dong Khoi Street, displaying 55 colour and black-and-white photos.
In addition, the exhibitions “Ho Chi Minh City resounds with the song of triumph”, “Grand celebration of the 50th anniversary of national reunification: Memorable moments”, and “The working class of Ho Chi Minh City accompanies the nation’s aspiration for rising” are also held at Nguyen Du Park, Nguyen Du Street, Thu Dau Mot Ward, and at the Revolutionary Tradition House at No. 1 Ba Cu Street, Vung Tau Ward.
The exhibitions will run until May 12.
