According to the national weather service, Bualoi entered the East Sea/South China Sea on the evening of September 26 and became the tenth storm to affect Viet Nam this year.

The storm is moving rapidly in a west-northwest direction at a speed of 35 kilometres per hour, packing maximum winds of 103-133 kilometres per hour near its centre.

As of 10am on September 27, the storm was located about 370 kilometres east of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands.

Over the next few days, Bualoi is forecast to intensify and bring heavy rains to the Vietnamese mainland, potentially causing flash floods, landslides and coastal flooding.

In response to the powerful storm, the government leader has called for proactive measures to protect lives and minimise damage to property.

Provincial authorities in affected areas are required to evacuate residents in vulnerable locations, call on fishing vessels and tourist boats to take shelter, strengthen the dyke system and marine farming facilities.

The ministries are responsible for taking measures within their authority to respond to the storm, including providing timely updates on the storm, protecting public infrastructure, and ensuring the safety of road, rail, air and marine transport.

For their part, the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Public Security are tasked with standing by to carry out evacuation and search and rescue operations when requested.
