PM urges swift flood response, recovery of production and livelihoods

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh issued Official Dispatch No. 204/CĐ-TTg on October 30, directing leaders of ministries, sectors, and local authorities in the central region to take urgent and effective measures to respond to floods, promptly address the aftermath, and quickly stabilise people’s lives and restore production and business activities.

The Prime Minister requested local authorities to focus on search and rescue operations for missing persons, provide free medical treatment to the injured, and offer support for the families of the deceased.

Functional forces with relevant experience must be deployed to reach isolated areas, deliver food and essential supplies, and ensure that no residents face hunger or cold.

He also urged localities to reopen transportation routes for the movement of goods and people, restore agricultural production, and repair schools so that students can soon return to class. Additionally, environmental sanitation must be handled swiftly to prevent post-flood outbreaks of disease.

The Prime Minister assigned the Ministers of National Defence and Public Security to mobilise forces and equipment — including helicopters — to assist with transport and relief efforts in areas cut off by floods.

The agriculture sector was tasked with assessing needs and proposing support for seeds and livestock to help farmers resume production. The industry and trade sector was directed to repair and restore power supply for daily life and business operations, ensure sufficient goods supply, and stabilise market prices to prevent speculation and unreasonable price hikes.

The Deputy Prime Ministers were instructed to visit flood-affected areas, directly oversee on-site recovery efforts, inspect damage, and extend encouragement and support to affected residents and working forces.
