Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee Le Van Anh affirmed that through the event, Quang Ninh continues to expand cooperation and strengthen exchanges and mutual understanding among localities, organisations and international friends, working together towards peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development.
Under the theme “Welcome Miss World to Quang Ninh - Viet Nam”, the 73rd Miss World is being held in Viet Nam and also marks the 75th anniversary of the formation and development of one of the world’s most prestigious and longest-running beauty pageants. The pageant is being held in the localities of Quang Ninh, Hai Phong and Khanh Hoa, with Quang Ninh selected to host the opening ceremony.
The opening ceremony began with an art programme combining performing arts, sound and lighting with traditional Vietnamese cultural values. Featuring the participation of many renowned artists, the programme offered a special artistic feast celebrating love for the homeland and country and the beauty of Vietnamese culture.
The highlight of the opening night was an ao dai performance by 111 Miss World 2026 contestants in the “Essence of Vietnamese Silk” collection by designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam. Inspired by the national flags, heritage and distinctive cultural features of the countries represented by the contestants, the designs created a colourful cultural space, aiming to honour Vietnamese cultural beauty and promote the image of Viet Nam and its friendly, culturally rich people to the international community.
Representing host country Viet Nam at this year’s pageant is Miss Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc. Born in 2001, the beauty from Can Tho stands 1.86 metres tall and has an impressive educational background and foreign-language skills. She was first runner-up at Miss World Viet Nam 2022 and was crowned Miss Intercontinental 2022.
Speaking at the event, Miss World Viet Nam President Pham Kim Dung expressed her appreciation and thanks to Quang Ninh Province for creating favourable conditions for the 73rd Miss World pageant, particularly the people of Quang Ninh for their friendliness, hospitality and warmth. The 73rd Miss World pageant is truly a journey of beauty, friendship and compassion, and a platform for spreading Viet Nam’s positive values to friends around the world.
By hosting activities of the 73rd Miss World pageant, Quang Ninh continues to affirm its capacity to organise international-scale cultural, tourism and external-relations events, while effectively promoting the outstanding values of the World Natural Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay, its modern tourism infrastructure, distinctive natural landscapes and attractive investment environment.
The event also contributes to implementing the policy of developing the cultural industry, tourism and heritage economy, and enhancing the position and destination brand of Quang Ninh on the international stage.
