Organised by Viet Nam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade in collaboration with Central Group and Central Retail, the programme aims to promote Vietnamese products, culture, tourism, and local destinations to Thai consumers.

Running until September 20, this year’s event highlights five leading Vietnamese destinations: Lao Cai, Ha Noi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and An Giang. The programme also features products with export potential, ranging from processed fruit foods, coffee, and instant noodles to Phu Quoc fish sauce, Da Nang toasted coconut cakes, Thai Nguyen tea, Buon Ma Thuot coffee, and handicrafts. Notably, this is the first time Vietnamese OCOP products have been showcased as part of the programme.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung emphasised that Viet Nam–Thailand relations have seen continued growth over the past half-century, evolving from close neighbourly ties into a comprehensive strategic partnership. Economic, trade, and investment cooperation has increasingly played a pivotal role in complementing bilateral relations.

According to the ambassador, this year’s programme not only brings Vietnamese goods closer to Thai consumers but also introduces Vietnamese culture, cuisine, tourism, and destinations.

Expanding market connectivity and building substantive economic links will create further opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, and value chains, thereby helping to translate the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries into tangible outcomes.

He pledged that the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand would continue to work with agencies, localities, and businesses from both countries to connect partners, expand markets, and pursue new opportunities for collaboration.

For his part, Thai Vice Minister for Commerce Kirida Bhaopichitr noted that the Viet Nam–Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has been given practical expression through cooperation across a wide range of fields.

Thailand is currently Viet Nam’s largest trading partner in ASEAN, while Viet Nam is Thailand’s second-largest trading partner in the region. Thai businesses are also increasing investment in Viet Nam, particularly in consumer goods, retail, and livestock farming.

Meanwhile, Central Group Chairwoman Wallaya Chirathivat stressed that Vietnamese Week in Thailand was more than just a product exhibition. Through business-matching activities and direct meetings with Central Group’s purchasing departments, Vietnamese businesses have the opportunity to receive market feedback, gain a clearer understanding of modern retail requirements, and explore opportunities to bring their products to the Thai market.

As part of the event, Viet Nam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, in collaboration with Central Retail Viet Nam, organised a business-matching programme connecting Vietnamese enterprises with buyers from the Central Group retail system.

The organisers also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Central Group, the National Payment Corporation of Viet Nam (NAPAS), and VietinBank to promote VietQRGlobal cross-border QR payments between Viet Nam and Thailand.
