Western Union opened its 8,000th location on November 29 at the Thanh Quang branch of the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development in the northern province of Hai Duong.
Vietnam is among the world’s top 16 remittance recipient markets with about four million people living and studying in over 100 countries and territories across the globe sending money regularly to the country, said Drina Yue, Managing Director & Senior Vice President of Western Union Asia-Pacific.
Western Union began providing money transfer services to Vietnam in 1994.
Western Union and its agents, including commercial banks, post offices, people’s credit funds and travel agencies, have created an extensive local network enabling customers to receive and transfer money in almost every district and town in Vietnam.
