The competition was organised by the Viet Nam Film Development Association (VFDA) in collaboration with the Centre for Cultural and Scientific Activities at the Temple of Literature.
According to VFDA Chairwoman Dr Ngo Phuong Lan, in the more than three months since its launch, the competition attracted over 200 entries from diverse backgrounds, including professional film organisations, experienced artists, university students, independent filmmaking groups, and young people venturing into cinema for the first time.
The entries covered a wide range of topics, including education; portraits of intellectuals; history, science, creativity, culture, heritage, and traditional arts; as well as young people’s responsibility and issues facing contemporary life.
A total of 23 films were shortlisted for the final round, comprising 17 documentaries, four fiction films, and two animated films.
Speaking at the ceremony, Tran Thanh Lam, Member of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Permanent Deputy Head of the PCC’s Commission for Publicity, said the competition reflected the strong response to the Party’s Resolution No. 80 on cultural development. He noted that it served both as a platform and as a means of supporting the advancement of Vietnamese culture in the new era.
Lam expressed his confidence that, in the future, today’s directors and film enthusiasts would continue to see their names recognised at film festivals and cinematographic events both domestically and internationally.
At the ceremony, the organising board presented 13 prizes to the best entries of the contest.
The first prize was awarded to the documentary Khat Vong Vuon Xa (Reaching for Distant Horizons) by director Hoang Ha Le and screenwriter Bui Thi Thoa from the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio. The film tells the story of English teacher Tran Thi Thuy of Duc Hop High School in Hung Yen Province, who has developed a teaching approach that integrates knowledge, methodology, and technology, using online platforms to connect rural students with peers worldwide.
Two second prizes, three third prizes, and five consolation prizes, along with a Creative Idea Award and a Most Popular Film Award, were also presented at the ceremony.
