In the semi-final round, the contest attracted nearly 1,040 contestants from more than 330 primary, secondary, and high schools across the city.

After a serious and objective evaluation process, the organising committee selected the 560 most outstanding contestants, equivalent to 404 individuals and teams, to compete in the final round.

The Ho Chi Minh City Young Informatics Contest is an academic playground for students at all levels across the city.

It helps discover and nurture young human resources in information technology, data science, artificial intelligence, and innovation, serving the city’s scientific and technological development in the period of digital transformation.

The year 2026 marks many important innovations for the contest. This is the first time the contest has been held after the merger of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, expanding its scale and reach to a larger number of students in the area.

In addition to the competition categories held in previous years, the organising committee introduced two new categories for the first time this year: Logical Mathematics and Algorithmic Thinking M1 for primary school students and Logical Mathematics and Algorithmic Thinking M2 for secondary school students.

At the same time, the contest also expanded participation to independent contestants who are not members of teams from communes, wards, or special zones, helping spread the movement of learning, research, and application of information technology among young people across the city.
