Representatives of the provincial authorities and the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front also visited and extended their congratulations to the Executive Committee of the Hoa Hao Buddhism Sect and the prophet’s family, dignitaries, and followers in the province.
They expressed hope that dignitaries and followers of Hoa Hao Buddhism would continue to stay united and join charitable activities, contributing to local development.
Over the past, Hoa Hao Buddhist followers have been highly involved in charitable activities across the country, including building houses, bridges, and roads and providing food for the poor.
Hoa Hoa Buddhism currently has over 390 executive committees in 17 cities and provinces and over two million followers nationwide, mostly in An Giang.
Seventy-three years ago, Hoa Hao Buddhism was founded by Prophet Huynh Phu So, a native of Hoa Hao village, Tan Chau district, Chau Doc province which now is Phu My Town, Phu Tan district, An Giang province.
Home to more than 800,000 followers, An Giang province is regarded as the Holy Land of the sect.
