With a total of 36 volumes across the three books, the series was compiled over 15 years and published in 2010, said Associate Professor Doctor Le Xuan Canh, Director of the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
The volumes consist of over 10,000 pages and scientific illustrations. A team of over 120 sceintists from research institutues and universities across the country were involved in compiling the ground-breaking works.
The volumes provide a comprehensive inventory of the number, allocation, ecological-biological characteristics, scientific and practical value of all the flora and fauna found in Vietnam. The Red Data Book details 407 species of fauna and 462 species of flora.
