Located in Dong Nai Province, Long Thanh is a key national project designed to replace the overburdened Tan Son Nhat Airport in neighbouring Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at a conference on November 1, Deputy PM Thanh asked Dong Nai Province to finalise the site clearance for the first phase by the end of 2021, while clearance for entire 5,200 hectares of the airport must be completed within the first quarter of 2022.

The Airports Corporation of Vietnam and the Ministry of Transport were required to quickly complete the procedures so that the ground filling could start in December this year.

The construction start date of the passenger terminal is scheduled for before March 2022 while work on the runway and apron is slated to begin in August 2022.

Deputy PM Thanh asked that the runway and terminal must be completed by January 2025 and the airport put into operation in the first half of that year.
