Addressing the event, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh praised the training efforts made by coaches and athletes over the past few months in preparation for the 27th SEA Games.

He instructed members of the Vietnam sports delegation to be confident and play fairly to bring glory to the homeland.

Pencak Silat martial artist Nguyen Thi Thuy took the oath on behalf of the other SEA Games athletes, pledging that they would try their best to achieve victory at the upcoming Games.

Another send-off is scheduled to take place in Ho Chi Minh City on November 23 for teams who are currently training in the southern region.

Vietnam is sending a contingent of 750 officials, coaches and athletes to this year’s SEA Games. The principal objectives are to win more than 70 gold medals and to make the overall podium.

The delegation, headed by Deputy Head Lam Quang Thanh of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, leaves for Myanmar in three groups – on December 4, 7 and 14.
