Hospital Director Dr Pham Thanh Viet said that immediately after receiving news of the accident, the hospital deployed doctors who had been working at Phu Quoc Hospital to Sun Group International Hospital to help provide emergency treatment and intensive care for two critically injured patients.

At the same time, leading specialists at Cho Ray Hospital conducted online consultations with medical teams in Phu Quoc to determine the best treatment options.

The hospital also coordinated with Kien Giang Hospital to transport blood and additional medical materials to Phu Quoc. It is expected to receive the bodies of 10 victims for further procedures.

Of the two patients receiving treatment at Sun Group International Hospital, one man, born in 1987, has regained consciousness and remains in stable condition, although he still requires oxygen support. The other remains in a coma and is on mechanical ventilation after suffering multiple serious injuries, including subarachnoid haemorrhage, rib fractures, lung trauma and suspected cardiac damage.

The accident occurred at about 1 pm on July 11 when a speedboat carrying 32 tourists, three crew members and a tour guide overturned about 400 metres off the coast while travelling from Hon May Rut Ngoai Island to An Thoi Port. The accident claimed 15 lives.
