Co-organised by the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) Central Committee and the United Nations agency for gender equality and women's empowerment (UN Women), the event featured the participation of more than 60 delegates from ministries, central agencies, and agencies of the National Assembly and social organisations.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Nguyen Thi Minh Huong, Vice President of the VWU Central Committee, said that the draft revised Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control (revised) has inherited the practical contents of the current law and amended and supplemented regulations, to institutionalize the Resolution adopted at the 13th National Party Congress, the Party Central Committee's Secretariat's Directive No. 06, on strengthening the Party's leadership in family work in the new situation, contributing to solving current challenges.
At the conference, the participants gave opinions on several provisions of the draft revised Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control (revised), focusing on issues of ensuring gender equality and the realisation of rights, legitimate interests for victims of violence who are vulnerable groups in the draft Law; improving the efficiency of conciliation work; strengthening the socialization of domestic violence prevention and control; and some recommendations to meet international standards for the draft Law.
