The event was co-hosted by the Departments of Agriculture and Development of Hai Duong Province and Quang Ninh Province.
In his opening speech, Bui Van Thang, Director of the Hai Duong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, affirmed that the provincial authorities have paid attention to improving productivity, quality, and packaging of the locality’s agricultural products in recent years, including Thanh Ha lychees.
He noted with pleasure that agricultural products of Hai Duong Province have not only conquered the domestic market but have also been exported to international markets.
Specifically, Thanh Ha lychee fruit has been successfully exported to some of the most demanding markets in the world, such as Japan, the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Thailand, and some EU countries.
For the domestic market, Hai Duong's agricultural products have penetrated into major supermarket systems such as VinMark, Saigon Mark, Fivimark, Coop Mark, and GO.
According to Nguyen Van Duc, Deputy Director of the Quang Ninh Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, with a population of nearly 1.5 million people and a large number of tourists visiting every year, Quang Ninh province is an attractive market for agricultural products.
Lychee is one of the eight key agricultural products of Hai Duong Province, featuring 8,850 hectares of lychees, with Thanh Hà District alone containing 3,285 hectares of lychees.
Every year, the whole province outputs between 55,000-60,000 tonnes of lychee. However, due to weather effects, the province's lychee output is estimated at 40,000-45,000 tonnes this year.
Hai Duong has 52 lychee growing areas certified for production according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards. There are 41 VietGAP regions with a total area of 110 hectares, of which Thanh Ha District alone has 37 regions.
