Da Nang Museum — A symbol of Da Nang's history and culture

On March 29, the central Da Nang City held a grand inauguration ceremony for the Da Nang Museum and the construction of the Uncle Ho Monument at the General Science Library to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Da Nang City Party Committee and the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Da Nang (March 29, 1975 – March 29, 2025).

Speaking at the event, Le Trung Chinh, Deputy Secretary of Da Nang City Party Committee and Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee, stated: In 2020, the city decided to relocate the Da Nang Museum from the Dien Hai Citadel, a nationally recognised special relic, and use the premises at 42 and 44 Bach Dang Street — formerly the Governor’s Mansion, built in the late 1890s — as the new location for the Da Nang Museum.

"This is a historically significant decision, marking a transformation in the journey of preserving and promoting the cultural values that carry the imprint of Da Nang’s heritage in particular and Quang Nam in general. It has received the consensus and support of the city’s government, its people, as well as cultural and historical researchers across the country," emphasised Chinh.

Recognising the importance of renovating and constructing the Da Nang Museum in a historically significant building, the city's authorities conducted thorough research to preserve the original architectural features as completely as possible. Meanwhile, newly constructed sections were designed with modern architectural language, harmonising with the surrounding landscape and creating a unique and impressive architectural highlight along the Han River.

As part of today’s ceremony, Da Nang also commenced the construction of the Uncle Ho Monument at the General Science Library of Da Nang. This project aims to honour the great life and revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh and reflect the deep affection of the people of Da Nang for the beloved leader of the nation.

The monument was erected with the aim to promote the tradition of learning, reading, and fostering a spirit of education among younger generations in the city. It will also contribute to the development of reading culture, establishing a meaningful landmark for locals and visitors alike to admire and remember President Ho Chi Minh when visiting Da Nang.

The Da Nang Museum is a cultural investment featuring a scientifically curated, aesthetically appealing exhibition system with modern facilities. Nearly 3,000 documents and artifacts have been carefully selected from a collection of 27,000 items, combining traditional exhibition styles with modern display technologies. Notably, the museum incorporates 3D mapping films, 3D movies, documentaries, and image slideshows to enhance visitor engagement and interaction.
