In the writing, Khue personified herself the Ocean, sending a heartfelt message to the renowned director James Cameron – known for his films about the deep sea and nature, such as “Titanic,” “The Abyss,” and “Avatar.”
The award ceremony was co-organised by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Viet Nam Writers’ Association, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, Vietnam Post Corporation, the Thieu Nien Tien Phong Va Nhi Dong (Youth Pioneers and Children) Newspaper, and VietNamNet Newspaper.
With the global theme: “Imagine you are the ocean. Write a letter to someone explaining why and how they should take good care of and protect you,” this year’s competition strongly inspired imagination, a sense of responsibility, and love for nature among the younger generation.
The event attracted approximately 1.5 million entries from students across the country – an impressive figure demonstrating the competition’s wide-reaching influence as well as the growing concern of young people about ocean protection.
The organisers also awarded three second, five third, and 30 consolation prizes to other outstanding entries.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Pham Duc Long, Head of the competition’s organising committee, said that the competition is not only a platform for developing writing skills but also a bridge that helps students deeply understand environmental issues – one of the greatest global challenges today.
It also helped Vietnamese students cultivate thinking and emotions while contributing to promoting humanitarian values linked to global issues.
