Funding results announced in the SwissTrade Programme sponsored by the Swiss Government

O n May 16, a workshop was held in the Mekong River Delta City of Can Tho, to announce the first call’s results and invitation for the second call of proposals under the Innovation and Competitiveness Grant (ICG) Facility of the SwissTrade Programme, sponsored by the Government of Switzerland.

The Swiss Trade Policy and Export Promotion (SwissTrade) Programme is a technical assistance programme from 2021 to 2024, sponsored by the Government of Switzerland and represented by the Swiss Secretariat of Economic Affairs (SECO).

The programme aims to support Vietnam in achievingsustainable economic growth and reducing poverty by promoting trade, enhancing the international competitiveness of small and medium enterprises, through enhanced framework conditions for imports and exports, public-private dialogue mechanisms and a strengthened eco-system for dynamic export promotion.

The project has 3 main components. Component 3 will support the Ministry of Industry and Trade to develop the Innovation and Competitiveness Grant (ICG) Facility, to finance the support for improving capacity for dynamic business support organisations and to deploy the initiatives assisting small and medium enterprises, to improve export competitiveness and participate in global value chains.

Within the framework of the project, the Trade Promotion Agency is assigned by the Ministry of Industry and Trade,as the focal point to directly implement the activities of Component 3.

The ICG Facility is expected to finance around 10-15subprojects, which are selected through a competitive process implemented through invitations for three calls. The maximum funding scale is 150,000 USD per subproject, during 12-24 months.
