Accordingly, the capital city stood at 94th place while the southern hub ranked 90th in the list, which was made public in early December.
The research was conducted in more than 110 cities at 86 markets across six key pillars including Tourism Performance, Economic and Business Performance, Tourism Policy and Attractiveness, Tourism Infrastructure, Health and Safety, and Sustainability.
Both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh recorded their highest rankings in the Tourism Infrastructure pillar, which measures lodging, transportation, entertainment, shopping and dining venues.
The two Vietnamese cities are home to many luxury hotels, convenient homestay services, entertainment venues and tourist sites.
They also gained high rankings in Health and Safety.
Europe dominates the top placings in the list, with 39 cities were named in the list. Paris tops the index, followed by Dubai and Amsterdam.
Tokyo is the highest-ranking Asian city, standing in 15th place, while Beijing, Bangkok and Hong Kong (China) placed 32nd, 45th and 49th, respectively.
