Hanoi expands Hoan Kiem pedestrian spaces during New Year holiday

This information was announced by the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District (Hanoi) on December 25.

Accordingly, the operating time for the pedestrian streets in Hoan Kiem District will be extended by 1 day compared to the previous schedule.

In particular, the space around Hoan Kiem Lake will be open from 7pm on December 29, 2023, through midnight on January 1, 2024, instead of only on weekends as usual.

Meanwhile, the pedestrian streets in the Old Quarter will be in operation from 7pm to midnight during the holiday, but will remain open for vehicles in the daytime

According to Pham Tuan Long, Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People's Committee, extending the operating hours of pedestrian streets in the district will contribute to serving visitors’ recreational demands during the New Year 2024 holiday.

The pedestrian streets of Hoan Kiem Lake and pedestrian streets in Hanoi's Old Quarter are destinations that always attract people and tourists every weekend, and they are especially crowded during holidays and Tet.

On average, the Hoan Kiem Lake walking space welcomes 5,000-7,000 visitors during the day every weekend. During holidays, this space can welcome up to 40,000 visitors per day.
