The festival was held by the Hanoi Promotion Agency from May 13-15 at Ly Thai To Park and on Dinh Tien Hoang street, as part of activities to celebrate SEA Games 31.
In addition to conventional promotion methods, there were miniature scenes of famous attractions in the capital city including Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature), Hoa Lo Prison, Hanoi’s Old Quarter, Ba Vi, My Duc, Soc Son and Son Tay.
Notably, a “technological wall” will be a special feature of this year’s festival. Accordingly, visitors just need to touch the icons and the screen to be brough to various scenic spots.
The event drew the participation of the Tourism Authority of Thailand and nearly 100 enterprises with many major names including Vietnam Airlines, Hanoitourist and Vietravel.
Besides the host Hanoi, nine other provinces and cities such as Yen Bai, An Giang, Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Binh and Ha Giang, will also promote their potentials and tours at the festival.
The 2022 Hanoi Tourism Festival featured numerous products from traditional craft villages.
Visitors to the festival could approach many discounted tours under the tourism stimulation programmes from the capital city and other localities as well explore the products from many traditional craft villages, notably fine art lacquer and hand embroidery.
Visitors also had the chance to enjoy numerous typical specialties in Hanoi including banh cuon Thanh Tri (Thanh Tri steamed roll rice pancakes), Son Tay rice cakes, banh com Hang Than (Hang Than green rice flake cake) and Ho Tay (West Lake) lotus tea.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hanoi municipal People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen affirmed that tourism has been considered one of important economic sectors, playing a key role in the overall development of the country’s economy.
He expressed his hope that the capital city’s citizens should raise their awareness of COVID-19 prevention and control and promotion of Hanoi’s landscape, culture and people to both domestic and foreign tourists.
