Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, received and held talks with Tran Hai Linh, member of the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front and President of the Viet Nam-Korea Business and Investment Association (VKBIA), and Kim Hyeon-Gon, President of the Gyeonggi Business & Science Accelerator (GBSA, the RoK), along with a delegation from Gyeonggi Province.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the potential for cooperation in investment, science and technology, innovation, training of high-quality human resources, and business networking.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairwoman Tran Thi Dieu Thuy emphasised: “Ho Chi Minh City has always valued and highly appreciated the cooperative relationship between Viet Nam and the RoK, especially with Gyeonggi Province — one of the RoK’s leading centres of economy, science, and technology. The city is ready to create the most favourable conditions for Korean enterprises to invest and to foster cooperation.”
She expressed her hope that VKBIA President Tran Hai Linh and the association would continue to play their role as a bridge connecting the business communities of the two countries, international investors, and Vietnamese–Korean intellectual experts, while continuing to implement practical and effective networking activities that contribute to Ho Chi Minh City’s development in the coming years.
On behalf of the VKBIA, President Tran Hai Linh pledged to continue accompanying Ho Chi Minh City and Korean partner agencies in promoting practical cooperation in local-to-local partnerships, boosting trade and investment, technology transfer, and human resource development, as well as participating in the development of the cultural industry. He expressed his wish to build sustainable projects that would make a positive contribution to the city’s development and further strengthen Viet Nam–RoK friendship.

Kim Hyeon-Gon, President of the Gyeonggi Business & Science Accelerator, spoke highly of the cooperation potential between Ho Chi Minh City and Gyeonggi Province. He believes that, with many similarities — such as both playing key economic roles and focusing on developing science, technology, and innovation — the cooperation between the two localities has a solid foundation for development.
He proposed holding more regular people-to-people exchanges, business forums, and high-quality workforce training programmes, as well as creating Viet Nam–Korea start-up and innovation forums to boost economic, scientific, and technological connectivity.
“Gyeonggi Province always considers Ho Chi Minh City an important partner in its international cooperation strategy. We are particularly interested in connections in high technology, innovative start-ups, and sustainable development. GBSA is ready to coordinate with the VKBIA and Ho Chi Minh City to expand specific cooperation projects that bring tangible benefits to both sides,” Kim Hyeon-Gon affirmed.
The meeting has opened the door to many new prospects, contributing to strengthening economic, scientific-technological, and trade ties between the “megacity” of Ho Chi Minh City, the Viet Nam–Korea Business and Investment Association, and Gyeonggi Province, thereby making practical contributions to the Viet Nam–Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
