Chairman of the Board of Directors of Geleximco Group Vu Van Tien stated that this is a strategic, regionally significant project that has been nurtured for many years and has now become a reality. With a total investment of 319 million USD, the project will be implemented in two phases (2025–2026 and 2027–2029) on an area of 38 ha.
It is expected that Phase 1 of the automobile manufacturing plant will be completed by June 2026, in accordance with the commitment made to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Chery Group currently ranks fifth among Chinese automobile manufacturers, producing both petrol and electric vehicles. From the beginning of the year until the end of September, the company exported one million vehicles and plans to sell around three million vehicles by the end of this year.
Hung Phu Industrial Park, invested in by Geleximco Hung Phu Industrial Park Joint Stock Company, covers a total area of approximately 200 ha. Ground was broken in May this year, and the park is expected to become a leading automobile production centre in the region — a green, smart and environmentally friendly industrial zone.
Hu Chun, General Director for the Eastern European and Asia-Pacific markets of Chery Group (China), stated that with a designed capacity of 120,000 vehicles per year, the plant will include key workshops such as welding, painting, assembly, plastic components, a logistics centre, an experts’ area and a European-standard test track.
Once fully operational, the plant is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs through its supporting supply chain. This will be Chery Group’s first automobile assembly plant in Viet Nam, marking a milestone in industrial cooperation between the two countries in high technology. It also reaffirms Viet Nam’s growing role in the global automobile production network.
