In Pictures: the cause of teaching in Tien Hai border island commune

Located about 28km from the mainland, Tien Hai border island commune in Ha Tien City, in the Mekong Delta Province of Kien Giang, reports travelling conditions. Despite difficult daily life and limited salary, more than 20 teachers at Tien Hai Primary and Secondary School have overcome all difficulties and felt very happy when they can bring “letters” to the remote island commune.

Tien Hai Primary and Secondary School have 258 students, including 134 at the primary-school level and 59 students in two preschool classes. In addition to the main location on Hon Tre Island, the school has two sub-points located on Hon Duoc and Hon Giang islands. Thanks to the attention of the educational sector and local authorities, the school's infrastructure and teaching equipment have been fully guaranteed.

All students wear school uniforms and study at school both in the morning and afternoon.

Each school grad has a sufficient number of classes appropriate to the age of the students.

For students living on the island commune, every day going to school is a happy day, as they can meet friends and teachers and enjoy interesting lessons.

The physical lessons are interspersed with lessons in classrooms.

In addition to the subjects in the regular class time, students are given lessons on auxiliary subjects such as painting, music, physical education, or tutoring.

Although the number of students in each class is not too large, the quality of teaching and learning at the school has been guaranteed according to standards. In recent years, Tien Hai Primary and Secondary School have invested in building a new 2-storey building with full facilities including tables, fans, lights, desks and chairs.

For students in grade 9, these days in preparation for the exam are also the last time they study at the school before entering high school on the mainland.

There is no kindergarten exclusively for children in the commune, the school's management board proposed the local leaders open two more preschool classes with about 60 students.

With a special love for children, all preschool teachers patiently guide their children.

To help children not be bored during their classes, the teachers also create video clips to guide the children to practice dances or accompaniment to the songs when they need to perform.
