The event was jointly held by the People’s Committee of Quang Binh province and the Indian Embassy in Vietnam.
Speaking at the event, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Quang Binh province Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy said that Yoga has become more and more popular in the province in recent years and the province now has more than 40 Yoga clubs.
This is the first time the International Day of Yoga has been held in Quang Binh, an opportunity for Yoga lovers to exchange and spread the spirit of sports and yoga practice in particular, Thuy noted.
This is also a chance for the people of Quang Binh to get a better understanding about Yoga and Indian culture, thereby contributing to enhancing cultural exchanges and friendship between Vietnam and India, Thuy added.
Political and Information Counselor, Embassy of India in Vietnam, Roshan Lepcha said that the growing popularity of Yoga in Vietnam has been clearly demonstrated over the past two months as the Indian Embassy has organised the International Day of Yoga in 35 provinces and cities across Vietnam.
He wished that through this event, people will prioritise their health and together create a positive impact in the community and contribute to a healthy world for future generations.
A 40-minute basic Yoga performance was held at the event with the participation of Counselor Roshan Lepcha, Yoga teachers and 300 Yoga practitioners from Quang Binh province.
