Legal action launched against anti-State suspect involved in Le Trung Khoa case

The Security Agency for Investigation under the Ministry of Public Security has launched a probe into and temporarily detained Pham Quang Thien for the charge of “making, storing, distributing, and spreading information, documents, or items aimed at sabotaging the State of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam” under Article 117 of the Penal Code.

The ministry said on December 6 that the move on December 4 came as a result of the investigation into the case involving Le Trung Khoa (born in 1971 and residing in Dong Da ward, Ha Noi), who faces the same charge.

In the latest development, Pham Quang Thien (born in 1978 and residing in O Cho Dua ward of Ha Noi), former Director of the Centre for Technology and Multimedia Communications of the Government Portal, was put into temporary detention. His living place was also searched to serve the investigation.

The investigation launch, detention, and search decisions had received approval from the Supreme People’s Procuracy.

The agency is coordinating with the Supreme People’s Procuracy to enquire into the case.
