Localities welcome large number of visitors during National Day holiday

Tourist destinations across the country welcomed a large number of visitors during the four-day National Day holiday, which lasted from September 1 to 4, signalling the strong recovery of Vietnam’s tourism sector after two years of being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The number of visitors to Ho Chi Minh City's tourist attractions and entertainment venues, such as Independence Palace, Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, Cu Chi Tunnels, Can Gio eco-tourism area, and Suoi Tien tourist area, recorded a sharp increase, particularly on September 2 and 3. The city welcomed about 1 million travellers on this occasion.

Visitors to the city were offered various tourism promotion programmes, products and services, allowing them to explore the land, people, and indigenous culture of Ho Chi Minh City.

The large number of visitors to localities during the four-day National Day holiday signalled the strong recovery of Vietnam’s tourism sector after two years of being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the occasion of the 77th anniversary of National Day, tens of thousands of holidaymakers flocked to the Kim Lien special national site in Nam Dan district, Nghe An province, which is the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh, to pay tribute to the beloved national leader. On September 2 in particular, the site received more than 8,000 tourists.

Cao Bang provincial tourism sector reported that the locality greeted 55,000 tourists during the holiday, with the occupancy rate at accommodation establishments estimated at more than 95% and the total revenue from tourism reaching nearly 34 billion VND.

According to the leaders of Sa Pa town in Lao Cai province, during the four days of the National Day holiday, Sa Pa National Tourist Area welcomed 93,244 visitors, an increase of 215% over the same period in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic broke out.

On the morning of September 4, tens of thousands of people and tourists attended the traditional Do Son Buffalo Fighting Festival 2022, in the northern port city of Hai Phong’s Do Son district, after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Also on September 4, Khanh Hoa provincial Tourism Department revealed that during the National Day holiday, the province welcomed more than 356,000 visitors, occupancy of tourist accommodations reached over 65%, and total tourism revenue neared 576 billion VND.

According to the Da Nang city Tourism Department, the city recorded an increase of 39% in the number of visitors during the four-day holiday, as compared to the same period last year.

The number of holidaymakers to tourist attractions in Phu Yen province also witnessed a significant increase, reaching about 23,000 visitors.

Over the past four days, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province welcomed 214,000 tourists, most of them spending their holiday in Vung Tau city and Xuyen Moc district.

At the same time, the Mekong Delta province of Ca Mau attracted nearly 30,200 travellers.
