The ministry has proposed that the holiday to mark the Year of the Tiger should run from January 29 to February 6, 2022. If approved, civil servants and public employees will have a nine-day Tet holiday.
In addition, according to the new regulations in the Labour Code, public employees will have one additional day off for National Day (September 2) starting from 2021.
The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has also proposed two options for the next National Day celebrations.
If the extra day off next year is on September 1, civil servants and public employees would be entitled to four days off, Thursday (September 1) to Sunday (September 4). This would allow employees to enjoy a long holiday weekend and not extend it to a normal working day, the ministry has noted.
In the second option, if employers choose to give the additional day off on September 3, the holiday would run from Friday (September 2) to Monday (September 5).
Agencies and units that do not have a fixed break for the two days can arrange another suitable holiday schedule for their employees.
The holiday proposals will be reviewed by the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs and submitted to the government for its final decision.
