The launch ceremony was attended by representatives of the Directorate of Fisheries under the Ministry of Agriculture, as well as environment departments and agencies from Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak and Lam Dong provinces, alongside associations, universities, scientific research organisations and enterprises operating in fisheries and marine aquaculture.

In his opening remarks, Dr Quach Hoai Nam, Rector of Nha Trang University, affirmed that marine economic development is a strategic national priority, linked to economic growth, science and technology, environmental protection, human resource development, national defence and security, and the enhancement of the country’s standing.

The Marine Economy Forum is designed to operate under an inter-regional model, with Khanh Hoa and the South Central Coast–Central Highlands region as its focal point, gradually expanding connections with coastal localities, training institutions, research institutes, enterprises, associations and international networks.

The forum focuses on cross-sectoral and inter-regional issues such as fisheries supply chains, logistics, marine environmental protection, tourism linkages, community livelihoods, human resource training and the green transition.

It is envisioned to become a channel for connecting experts, data, scientific evidence and advisory resources to support the development of programmes, plans and policies, and to address practical challenges.
