The project was built at a total cost of VND10 billion, which was sponsored by the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV).

Addressing the ceremony, Director of the National Hospital of Pediatrics Le Thanh Hai said the Intensive Care Unit included 80 beds, which would help to ease serious overload at the National Hospital of Pediatrics.

He expressed hope that the SBV would continue to support the NHP in caring and treating for child patients.

The NHP is considered as the leading pediatric department in all of Vietnam. It is the co-ordinator and the top centre for pediatric care in the country.

The hospital currently holds important collaborations with Japan International Co-operation Agency, the Royal Children’s Hospital of Melbourne, Australia, the Friendship Organisation ICPH of Sweden, the American Veterans Association, REI association of the USA, and Project Vietnam (based in US), Dartmouth College, Samsung Medical centre of Korea and Babino Gesú Hospital from Italy.
