Lt General Chu Duy Kinh was born in 1930 in Bac Ninh Province. He joined the revolution at the age of 14 and made significant contributions to many battles, such as a raid on Bach Mai Airport and a 1950 battle that sank a French warship in Sam Son.

During the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, he was an officer of the 832nd Company under the 396th Anti-aircraft Artillery Battalion of the 367th Division.

Lt General Chu Duy Kinh is one of the three surviving generals who are former soldiers of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, along with Lt. General Dang Quan Thuy and Major General Nguyen Tu.

At the private home of Lt. General Chu Duy Kinh, Nhan Dan’s Editor-in-chief Le Quoc Minh expressed his profound gratitude for the general’s contributions to the cause of national liberation and defence, especially during the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.

He wished Lt General Chu Duy Kinh good health and to maintain the “Dien Bien Phu spirit” for the younger generations to follow.

For their part, the general’s family thanked Nhan Dan Newspaper’s attention and informed them that although his health has somewhat declined, Lt General Chu Duy Kinh still maintains the qualities of a soldier.
