This event contributed to making Trung Nam Ca Na International Port an important transshipment hub in the central coastal region, thus easing the pressure on seaports in the Southeastern region and Ho Chi Minh City.
Nguyen Minh Sang, Director of Operations and Exploitation at Ca Na General Cargo Seaport, said: "We are very pleased to welcome the first 1 million tonnes of cargo to the port. Currently, ships are arriving at the port from various parts of the world to deliver and receive a wide range of goods, especially industrial items such as granite, cement, construction stones, etc., which are crucial for infrastructure and industrial development. This marks a successful start for Ca Na General Cargo Seaport. It will serve as a stepping stone for future commercial shipments to and from Ninh Thuan to locations around the world."
Ca Na General Cargo Seaport is being constructed by Trung Nam Construction-Investment Joint Stock Company with a total investment of 5,600 billion VND on a planned area of 85.52 hectares. The port includes two berths for handling general cargo, containers, and bulk cargo, with a capacity of up to 100,000 DWT.
A portion of the port, which is part of the first phase of the project, has been operational since the second quarter of 2022. Currently, the investor is both operating and completing the construction of the second phase berth (Berth 1B) to increase capacity and accommodate super-sized and heavy cargo shipments.
According to the investor's statistics, with its advantage of receiving large-tonnage vessels and handling a high volume of cargo, the port has received nearly 850,000 tonnes of goods in 2024, a fourfold increase compared to 2023.

In his speech at the ceremony, Tran Quoc Nam, Chairman of Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee, emphasised that this is an important event for Ninh Thuan to form a coastal economic zone in the southern part of the province, quickly integrating with the whole country, the region, and the world. This aims to create a crucial driving force to fully tap into the potential and advantages of the province, thus enhancing its attractiveness to both domestic and foreign investors while attracting investment resources and guiding the province toward sustainable economic growth in the future.
The establishment of the port area is creating large-scale maritime connections for Ninh Thuan Province to various regions within and outside the country. Additionally, it is expanding the development of the transportation and logistics chain for goods, equipment, and materials from energy projects that are already in operation, as well as key energy projects such as the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant, the LNG Power Plant, and offshore wind power plants that will be deployed in the near future.
