The MoIT sent a proposal to the Government on February 25, 2020, to increase the capacity of the wind power plantby nearly 50MW, which was previously added to the Power Development Master Plan 7.
The MoIT was assigned to take charge of the plant’s capacity expansion without causing overload to the regional power grid.
The first phase of the wind power plant in Ninh Thuan Province commenced in late April 2019 with a capacity of 39.95MW. The second phase of the plant has an additional capacity of 64MW.
The third phase of the plant is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2020 and will have an additional capacity of 48MW.
The Trung Nam wind power plant is under the Trung Nam renewable energy complex (wind power and solar power) located in the communes of Bac Phong and Loi Hai, in Thuan Bac District, Ninh Thuan Province. The complex has a total investment of nearly VND4 trillion (US$172.4 million) and is expected to generate 423 million kWh per year upon its completion.
