According to Lonely Planet, exploring the magnificent cave system in Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park ranks in the top ten, with the description “This national park in the North Central region of Viet Nam is a forgotten world of dense jungles and colossal caves. The most notable being Son Doong — the largest cave in the world.”
Currently, tours to Son Doong are fully booked until 2026; however, for those unable to secure these prized slots, many other stunning caves nearby await exploration.
In addition, the Vinh Moc Tunnels are listed as one of the must-see destinations for experiencing the Viet Nam War through the perspective of local people, alongside the Cu Chi Tunnels (Ho Chi Minh City) and Hamburger Hill (Hue).

Recently, at the 2025 Viet Nam Tourism Awards organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the tourism product “Legendary Truong Son Trail – Command Cave” in Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park was honoured in the category of “Creative Tourism Product”.
According to a representative of the Quang Tri Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, these recognitions highlight the diversity and appeal of the province’s distinctive tourism products: cave tourism, cultural and historical tourism, adventure tourism, eco-tourism, and the application of modern science and technology in preserving and promoting cultural values in association with sustainable tourism development.
These honours further affirm Quang Tri’s growing brand as a leading tourism destination in Viet Nam and the wider region.
