The event is part of a research which is being carried out within the framework of the Aus4Innovation - a 33.5 million AUD development assistance programme that aims to strengthen Vietnam’s innovation system, prepare for and embrace opportunities associated with Industry 4.0, and help shape Vietnam’s innovation agenda in science and technology.
In his opening speech, IPSARD Director Tran Cong Thang said that the research is being conducted in the 2023-2025 period with an aim to improve the efficiency of the agricultural innovation system to address the economic, social and environmental challenges facing the agricultural sector.
Based on lessons learned from the practices of Vietnam and other countries, especially Australia, the study will propose solutions and policies to enhance the efficiency of the agricultural innovation system in Vietnam while contributing to the building of the Law on Science and Technology.
For his part, Dr. Kim Wimbush, CSIRO Counsellor and Director of Aus4Innovation Programme, emphasised the importance of innovation in addressing the challenges facing Vietnam's agricultural sector.
He stressed that developing an innovation system is an urgent issue as it not only helps to increase productivity but also improves resilience to climate change and environmental issues.
“We hope that this system will benefit farmers in Vietnam and other countries in the world from technological improvements,” he stated.
