The event was attended by Politburo member and Minister of Public Security General To Lam along with members of the Party Central Committee: Deputy Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang; Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) Nghiem Xuan Thanh; and Secretary of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee Do Trong Hung.
Muong Lat District is home to a number of ethnic groups such as Muong, Dao, Thai, H’Mong, Kinh, and Kho Mu. Due to the divided terrain, high mountains, steep slopes, barren land and severe climate in the sub-region, Muong Lat District often suffers the consequences of natural disasters; while some outdated customs still exist, social evils are complicated, so the living and economic lives of people in this area still face many difficulties.
With the support of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) and sponsor by Vietcombank, Thanh Hoa Police, Muong Lat District and the Department of Construction and Barracks Management under the MPS conducted surveys, reviewed, and completed the construction of nine model houses; and donated funding worth nearly 30 billion for the Fatherland Front committee of Thanh Hoa Province and Muong Lat District to continue building 591 houses for needy households in Muong Lat District.
On this occasion, Minister To Lam also visited and checked the implementation of personal ID cards with an electronic chip for citizens in Kham Village and presented a 55-inch TV to the People's Committee of Trung Ly Commune, and two computers and a car to Muong Lat Commune Police.
The Vietnam Social Security also awarded 600 social insurance books worth VND1 billion to 600 needy households in the district.
