According to Chinese media reports, at 3:05 pm on April 7, flight GX8918 operated by Guangxi Beibu Gulf Airlines, carrying 182 passengers, departed smoothly from Noi Bai International Airport in Ha Noi and landed safely at Guilin Liangjiang International Airport at 5:13 pm the same day, marking the successful launch of the direct Guilin–Ha Noi route.

This is the first time in history that Guilin—one of China’s most famous tourist destinations—has established a direct international air link with Ha Noi, the capital of Viet Nam. The route will operate twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, under flight numbers GX8917/8, using Airbus A320 aircraft.

The launch is expected to open a new chapter in the recovery of the tourism market and promote cultural and tourism cooperation between Guilin, Guangxi, and Viet Nam as well as ASEAN countries.

With the introduction of this route, air travel between Guilin and Ha Noi will become more convenient and efficient, offering passengers in both cities more options and further promoting cultural exchange, tourism interaction, and economic and trade ties, while facilitating cross-border travel for both business and leisure purposes.

According to leaders of Guilin Liangjiang International Airport, from April 9 the airport has also begun operating regular flights between Guilin and Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam’s largest metropolis. With the addition of these two international routes to Viet Nam, Guilin now serves a total of six destinations within its international flight network.
