On October 27, 2025, the Government Office issued Document No. 581/TB-VPCP, reporting the conclusions of Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh at the meeting on the proposal to establish “Viet Nam Culture Day.”

The Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to chair and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to continue reviewing, studying, and finalising the dossier to submit to the Government. The ministry must fully and appropriately incorporate the ideas at the meeting on the proposal to choose November 24 as “Viet Nam Culture Day,” and collect written opinions from relevant ministries, agencies, and organisations.

The dossier must clearly classify the political, legal, and practical bases for the proposal, specifying the application of legal regulations to ensure the proper authority, components, and procedural steps of the dossier.

It should also include a detailed assessment of the relationship between the proposed date and existing commemorative, traditional, or cultural response days, commemorative days of other sectors and fields as well as national and Tet holidays already stipulated by law.

The dossier needs a comprehensive impact assessment from multiple perspectives, particularly regarding the proposal’s orientation to become a national commemoration or holiday.

Relevant committees, ministries, sectors, agencies, and organisations have actively and closely coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism during the process of reviewing, researching, and finalising the proposal dossier.

Earlier, on October 17, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh chaired a meeting on the proposal to choose November 24 every year as “Viet Nam Culture Day.”

The meeting was attended by leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Government Office; Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communication, Education and Mass Mobilisation; Viet Nam Academy of Social Sciences; and representatives from the Ministry of National Defence, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Education and Training, and Ministry of Finance.
