Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute a special-class organisation

The Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VINATOM) is a special-class public administrative science agency under the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung recently signed a decision stipulating organisational structure and operation of VINATOM.

Accordingly, VINATOM is responsible for basic research, applied research, and implementation of activities applying research results in the field of atomic energy.

In addition, the agency has also been tasked with providing technical assistance for State management on atomic energy, radiation and nuclear safety; and organising training and services in the field as stipulated by law.

VINATOM, located in Hanoi, has legal status and its own seal, and is allowed to open account at the Vietnam State Treasury and banks to operate in line with the law.

The Minister of Science and Technology is assigned to stipulate VINATOM’s specific tasks, rights and organisational structure, as well as promulgate the regulations on organisation and operation of VINATOM.
