Vietnam-India trade rises 40.2% in Q1

Vietnam-India trade reached over US$1.3 billion in the first quarter of 2013, representing a 40.2% rise from the same period last year, according to the Vietnamese trade counselor in India.

Of the figure, Vietnam’s export was US$533 million, recording a surge of 59.3%, and its import was US$774 million, increasing by 29.5%, said trade counselor Nguyen Son Ha.

Vietnam’s export items recording high growth rates included phones and phone components (US$238.5 million, up 174.6%), computers, electronic products and components (US$51.7 million, up 104.4%), and coffee (US$25.8 million, up 118.3%).

The country imported mainly cotton, corn, medicines, steel, and textile and garment materials from its partner.
