The cameras are expected to help enhance safety management and monitoring at the intersections between railway lines and roads.
The installation must be completed by the end of June, the VNR stated.
Following five successive crashes on the north-south rail link, the Vietnam Railway Authority (VRA) has conducted surprise inspections and found that many signalmen had violated labour and safety regulations while on duty.
The authority also found that certain premises near a number of crossings are leased to outsiders for business purposes, affecting the work of the employees and traffic safety at the crossing areas.
In addition, a number of railway management units were found to have failed to frequently and strictly supervise their employees.
Therefore the VRA has asked the VNR to tighten its work discipline, review its safety supervision procedures and clarify the responsibilities of violating individuals and organisations.
In May, five serious train crashes on the north-south railway line, three of which were directly caused by the railway sector, killed two people, injured another 11 and caused significant property damage.
