Vietnam wins four medals at international chemistry Olympiad

All four students from the Vietnamese team won medals including one gold, two silvers and one bronze at the 47th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO), according to the Ministry of Education and Training (MET).

The gold medal went to Dinh Tuan Hoang, a 12th grade student from Amsterdam High School in Hanoi.

Pham Thai Ha from Amsterdam High School in Hanoi and Tran Dinh Hieu from Bac Ninh gifted high school in the northern province of Bac Ninh brought home silvers.

Meanwhile, the bronze medal went to Nguyen Thuy Hang from Hung Vuong gifted high school in northern Phu Tho province.

As planned, the MET will host a ceremony on July 31 to commend and present its certificates of merit to all four Vietnamese students who won medals at the 47th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO).

This year’s competition, held from July 20-29 in Azerbaijan saw the participation of 294 contestants from 79 countries and territories worldwide.

Vietnam has participated in the IChO since 1997. Last year, the Vietnamese team won two golds and two silvers at the 46th competition, held in Vietnam from July 20-29.
