The biennial event is jointly held by the Party Central Committee (PPC)’s Commission for Communications and Education; PCC’s Commission for External Relations; Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism; General Political Department of the People's Army of Vietnam; and the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists.

This year’s contest received nearly 10,000 entries, including 5,765 single photos and 503 photo collections, by around 1,000 contestants across the country.

The submissions vividly reflect the beauty of the country, as well as the culture, scenery and people in the border areas. The photos also honour those who have contributed to protecting the border areas.

Addressing the ceremony, Minister of Defence, General Phan Van Giang hailed that the encouraging results of the contest not only show the people’s attention to border and sovereignty, but also recognise the efforts of functional forces working in border demarcation and marker planting.

Two gold prizes were awarded to a photo collection on the Vietnam – Cambodia Border Defence Friendship Exchange by Nguyen Van Hoang, and a picture on the water festival of Khmer ethnic people in the Southern region by Nguyen Hoang Nam.

A total of four silver, six bronze, and 10 consolation prizes were also presented at the ceremony.
