According to the provincial disaster management agency, Nam Dinh Province has proactively taken measures to deal with Yagi, the third storm to hit Vietnam this season.
Nam Dinh has banned ships from going to sea since 6 am on September 6 and forbade all entertainment activities on the sea, while residents are being evacuated from danger areas.
Noting the abnormal developments of Yagi, Minister Hoan asked Nam Dinh to continue calling on residents to stay vigilant and ensure absolute safety for people and properties.
Across the northern region, provinces have banned fishing vessels from going to sea and announced school closures on September 7, when Yagi is expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds.
