Da Nang, Hue welcome first international cruise passengers in Lunar New Year 2026

Da Nang City welcomed its first 1,000 cruise passengers of the Lunar New Year 2026 on February 19, the third day of the first lunar month.

The visitors arrived aboard the Seabourn Encore cruise ship, operated by Tan Hong Travel Company. They included 580 tourists from the UK, France, and the US, along with 500 crew members.

The passengers were greeted with lion dances and gift boxes containing banh chung and banh tet (traditional glutinous rice cakes).

During their stay in Da Nang, they will explore the city’s diverse tourism offerings through tours to the Cham Sculpture Museum, Marble Mountains, and Hoi An Ancient Town.

Tan Van Vuong, Deputy Director of Da Nang City Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, stated that in 2026 the city is expected to welcome 59 cruise ships carrying more than 64,000 passengers, an increase of around 11% compared with 2025.

Also on February 19, the international cruise ship Adora Mediterranea docked at Chan May Port in Hue City, becoming the first ocean liner to arrive in the central region in the Year of the Horse 2026.

Departing from Guangzhou, China, the vessel carried 2,613 passengers and 732 crew members.

In 2025, Chan May Port received 46 cruise ships with a total of 131,515 passengers and crew. In 2026, the number of cruise calls is expected to nearly double to around 88, bringing an estimated 260,000 arrivals.
